A Program Manager is accountable for the successful delivery of the program and its related benefits and outcomes. A program manager is usually a senior level person with extensive experience in program management, managing large sized projects and programs. A program manager has direct access to the senior team and is usually granted wide authority in terms of program execution. The program manager provides the organization as well as the teams leadership for transformation and change.
In a typical program, a program manager may lead a number of staff that may include roles such as the following:
- Deputy Program Manager
- Project Managers
- Team Leads
- Technical Architect
- Chief Software or Systems Engineer
- PMO Manager
- Test and Integration Teams
- Installation and Transition Teams
- Configuration Management (CM) Teams
- Infrastructure Teams
- etc.
