A project deliverable usually refers to a tangible output that results from a project effort. Each project plan delineates a number of project deliverables that must be agreed upon by the project sponsors and stakeholders. Project deliverables may be produced for the end customer (e.g. a company strategy document) or used for the internal consumption of the project team (e.g. internal testing plan). Deliverables can be any of the following:
- Formal document for the customer (e.g. a strategy document)
- Document for the project team (best software development practices for the project)
- Training of staff (expected outcome from a project effort)
- Functioning system
- A designed product
- etc.
Some of the project and program management related deliverables include the following:
- Project charter
- Program Management Plan (PMP)
- Communications Management Plan
- Contract Management Plan
- Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP)
